Privacy Policy
Effective 5 October 2026
Summary
Team 44 is a fan app for following Lewis Hamilton's Formula 1 season. It has no accounts and no sign-in, and it does not ask for your name, email address, contacts, photos or location. The app uses Google Firebase to collect usage statistics that are not linked to your identity. This website uses no cookies and no analytics.
This policy covers the Team 44 apps for iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch and Android, and the website at team-44.com. The developer and data controller is Mohamad Lawand.
Information we do not collect
- No account, username, password or profile.
- No name, email address or phone number, unless you choose to email us.
- No GPS or device location. The app never asks for location permission.
- No contacts, photos, microphone or camera access.
- No ads, and no selling or sharing of data for advertising.
- No payment information. The app has no purchases or subscriptions.
Data stored on your device
Team 44 saves the following on your device so it loads quickly and works offline. It is not sent to the developer and is removed when you delete the app. Depending on your settings, it may be included in your device's own backup (iCloud or Google).
- A cached copy of race calendar, results and statistics.
- Your preferences, such as whether race reminders are switched on.
- Scheduled reminder notifications for upcoming race weekends.
Network requests
To show up-to-date information, the app requests data from:
- The Team 44 service, hosted on Microsoft Azure, which provides the race calendar, results and statistics. These requests contain no personal information. Like any web server, it receives your IP address and basic request details as part of the connection, which may be kept in standard server logs for security and troubleshooting.
- Public news feeds from RaceFans, GrandPrix.com and the FIA, to show headlines. These publishers receive your IP address when the app fetches their feeds, as with any visit to their sites.
Notifications
Race reminders are local notifications scheduled on your device. The app asks for notification permission before sending any, and you can switch reminders off in the Profile tab or in your device's Settings at any time.
The app includes Firebase Cloud Messaging so that push notifications can be offered in future. Through Firebase, the app registers a push token with Apple or Google. Team 44 does not currently upload that token to its own service or link it to you. On Android, the app also uses the alarm and run-at-startup permissions so reminders arrive on time and survive a restart.
Analytics and diagnostics
The iPhone, iPad and Android apps include Google Analytics for Firebase. It collects usage information tied to a random app-instance identifier rather than to your name or account, such as which screens are opened, the app version, device model, operating system version, language and approximate region derived from your IP address. This helps the developer understand which features are used and fix problems. It is not used for advertising and is not used to identify you. Google keeps this event data for up to 14 months. Deleting the app resets the identifier.
Google processes this data on the developer's behalf. See Google's privacy policy and privacy and security in Firebase for details.
Third-party links and services
The app links to content it does not control. Each has its own privacy policy:
- News articles open on the publisher's website.
- The feedback form is a Google Form. What you type there is sent to Google and the developer.
- The Buy Me a Coffee link opens buymeacoffee.com, which handles any payment.
- Mission 44 links open mission44.org.
This website
The team-44.com website sets no cookies and loads no analytics, advertising or third-party scripts. It is hosted on Microsoft Azure, which receives your IP address and basic request details in order to deliver the pages.
If you contact us
If you email support, we receive your email address and whatever you write. We use it only to reply and to fix the issue you describe, and we do not share it.
Children
Team 44 is suitable for a general audience and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Your choices
- Switch off race reminders in the Profile tab, or notifications in your device's Settings.
- Delete the app to remove all data it stored on your device.
- Email us to ask a question about your data or to request that we delete an email conversation.
Legal basis and your rights
Where data protection law such as the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, usage statistics are processed on the basis of the developer's legitimate interest in understanding and improving the app, and support emails are handled in order to respond to your request. Google may process analytics data on servers outside your country, including in the United States, under its own safeguards.
You can ask for access to, correction of or deletion of personal data held about you, and you can object to its use. Email the address below and you will get a reply within 30 days. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
